City Dogs Rescue began by using excess boarding capacity to give temporary homes to shelter dogs until they are adopted. City Dogs Rescue has grown tremendously, often with 100 dogs available for adoption primarily housed in volunteer foster homes. 50 to 70 dogs on average are now adopted out to forever homes each month, thanks to countless volunteers.

We prioritize on-going canine-related education, professional organization membership and certifications. We ensure we have staff on hand who are Pet Tech first aid and CPR certified – ensuring fast, knowledgeable first responder care for your pet. We offer careful and caring spa services for your favorite fur person. These are basic grooming services including; bathing, nail trims, brush outs, de-matting, nail “paw”lish, shed-less treatments, feet and face trims and more.

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties rescues adoptable dogs and cats in overcrowded and high-kill shelters, where resources are severely limited. We offer a lifeline to as many of these wonderful pups and kitties as possible.
My normally insanely active terrier comes home absolutely exhausted, so I can spend my time doing homework instead of trying to tire her out. I needed a very last minute boarding for my dog and they were more than willing to accommodate quickly and made me feel very comfortable leaving my dog for a few days. They even sent me an update on him (without me asking! 🙂 ) since they knew how nervous I was to leave him. Excellent customer service and most importantly my dog returned to me fed, happy, and with no injuries! I will definitely use City Dogs again for future boarding needs and daycare.

At City Dogs, we care for your dog like our own. We provide cage-free daycare and overnight boarding , staffed 24 hours a day by dog lovers trained to handle friendly dogs of all sizes, breeds, and energy levels. We can give your dog the salon treatment in our grooming salon. City Dogs also hosts obedience training for puppies and adults. There are dogs and cats, puppies and kittens in need of loving homes this holiday season and they're available to be adopted from PAWS Chicago. I'm a busy grad student who had an internship in Roanoke.
CDR welcomes help in any capacity through volunteering, fostering, adopting and donating. City Dogs Rescue is operated primarily by volunteers working in their spare time. It is a separate organization from City Dogs Daycare with it’s own administrative office. Dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes, and can only be visited after completion and approval of an adoption application. Please do not direct rescue related inquiries to the daycare.
Your dog will spend their days here socializing, romping and playing with friends attended by our caring staff. Then, those staying with us will rest comfortably at night in their own private spaces. We are not a shelter and do not accept animal surrenders at our location, nor do we have adoptable animals onsite. All of our adoptable animals are in private foster homes.
